This was the centre where I started to take my first steps in the music world, guided by my professor María Luisa Rojas along with a teaching staff who, during ten years, made me realize the deep fulfillment and enjoyment music can provide.
This conservatoire, which offers elemental and professional teachings, was founded on April 30th, 1982. Its name is taken in honor to the great pianist Esteban Sánchez, born in Orellana la Vieja, who worked as a professor and head of this institution during the last years of his life until his death in 1997.
This centre has always strived to give a high quality formation, in a wide range of specialities, to young musicians searching for excellence and providing services for their necessities and concerns. At the same time, it is solidly involved in the cultural life of the city of Mérida, of which it constitutes the main musical reference.
