Among the well-known Chopin's set of Etudes Op.10, dedicated to Liszt and therefore distinguished by a fair amount of virtuosism and the profund emotion of "bigger" pieces, this first one appears as one of the most technically demanding. Reiterative cascades of arpegios run up and down the keyboard, making it difficult for small hands (like mine...), while the left hand octaves lay a solid harmonic and melodic line. I took this etude as a technical challenge to improve some aspects of my playing!
