Nino Kereselidze
Born in Tbilisi (Georgia) in 1959, she began her studies at the Special School of Music of Tbilisi with professors E. Mujadze and Eliso Virsaladze. She also attended composition courses with A. Shaversashvili. Her debut as a soloist happened at the age of seven along the whole Soviet Union, with special mention of: Moscow, Great Hall of the Conservatoire, Tchaikovsky Hall and the Hall of Columns; Leningrad at the Philarmonic Hall and Odessa at the Opera. She received a scholarship to continue her studies at the Moscow Conservatoire with maestro Jakob Zak, with whom she studied for four years. After Zak's death, she carried on studying with professor L. Timofeeva.
Once she finished her degree at Moscow conservatoire, she went on to Gnessin School of Music to doctorate with maestro V. Ponizovkin. During this period she won several important prizes at various piano competitions: 1980 - first prize at the Russian National Piano Competition, in the city of Kazan; 1982 - Second prize at the Inter-republic Soviet Union Piano competition and sixth prize at the VII Tchaikovsky Piano Competition.
She worked as a professor at the Tbilisi conservatoire since 1984, with excellent pedagogic results, as her students won success in several competitions and offered recital in some of the most important European cities. She now alternates her job as teacher at Centro Superior Katarina Gurska with an intense activity as a soloist, collaborating with Tbilisi Philarmonic Orchestra and giving concerts in the main European cities.
